Howard Hughes lived a life both glamorous and pitiful. It's hard to know whether to envy him for his swashbuckling adventures or mourn the fact that with all his advantages and talent, he's remembered now mainly as a nut case.

"Howard Hughes: His Women and His Movies," a new documentary from Turner Classic Movies (TCM), crams Hughes's entire whirlwind existence into one fascinating and poignant hour. The film premieres on TCM tonight at 8.
