Tenants flood lifts value of Canary Wharf to Pounds 6.7 billion

THE value of Canary Wharf has rocketed in the past year as companies have flooded to the east London mecca and construction started on four buildings for US banks State Street and Bear Stearns and accountants KPMG.

In clear evidence of the development's success in drawing tenants from the City and overseas, majority owner Songbird Estates said the 7.9 million square feet of office space in the development was 95.6% occupied, up from 89.6% this time last year.
