THE CHAMPION of the North York Moors bounces into town tomorrow to protect racing's most fearsome record. Quixall Crossett, the bay gelding fighting out of High Crossett Farm, Fangdale Beck, arrives at Southwell for almost certainly the finest hour in his 12-season career.

If the 16-year-old can avoid victory he will confirm himself as the most notorious serial loser of the modern age. He will have registered his 100th straight defeat.
