GOVERNMENT MINISTERS are alarmed that a surge in the demand for cocaine has led to record numbers of British women being jailed overseas for drug smuggling.

The Cabinet Office Minister, Mo Mowlam, who recently visited British women jailed in the Caribbean, has launched a package of initiatives to improve their conditions and prevent more women being recruited by the drug cartels.
