A lesson from Neil Hamilton: love thy enemies

DURING ONE of those unlikely moments that occur at this time of
the year, I was at a literary party, talking to Neil Hamilton. As he
sounded off about this and that, an eminent contemporary novelist -
let's call her "Bernice" - recognised him.
