Conservative Party: Carlton Club members vote for a third time on allowing women to be members

THE CARLTON Club, once described as the Conservative Party's
spiritual home, was on the brink of moving into the 21st (or perhaps
more accurately the 20th) century last night when its members
prepared to vote to impose sex equality.
William Hague was joined by the last three Tory Prime Ministers in
his demand for a change of rules for the elite club to end the ban on
