U.S. Admiral Visits Chinese Military Chiefs

In fence-mending talks with Chinese military leaders, the commander of U.S. military forces in the Pacific expressed concern today about Beijing's new threats to attack Taiwan if it indefinitely delays reunification talks.

Adm. Dennis Blair's visit came amid rising tensions over Taiwan as the island's March 18 presidential election approaches. China's newest threat of force was made despite U.S. calls for restraint.
