Though most people I know (and a fair number of the Coliseum's
audience last Saturday night) still wear combats and trainers, the
glossy magazines are trumpeting a return to "Eighties glamour". Good
news for former loadsamoneys whose wardrobes contain a V&A
retrospective's worth of shoulder pads. But purse strings are tighter
now - not least in the arts - and ENO has pulled off an interesting
trick by importing Elijah Moshinsky's 1979 production of Ernani
