The Hague - The Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, and his military chief, Ratko Mladic, were charged yesterday with genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity by the United Nations war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

The tribunal issued five indictments charging 24 Bosnian and Croatian Serbs with crimes ranging from genocide to breaches of the Geneva Conventions.
