Focus on Constable country
|
It was rather like a mature version of Scout camp. We woke at
7.45 to the clatter of a "rising bell" downstairs before staggering
across a car park to an outhouse bathroom. After breakfast of beans
on toast, we stood around a long table making sandwiches, then
gathered out of doors with the rucksacks and boots we had been
reminded to bring. Later in the day we returned for tea and
homemade cake.
I was staying at Flatford Mill on the River Stour in south
Suffolk, one of 11 field centres...
