Cleopatra's son by Julius Caesar was 3 when he became a ruler and 17 when he died 2,031 years ago, yet the image on his statue was still astonishingly clear when brought to the surface off the coast of Egypt near the mouth of the Nile only three years ago.

The statue of "Little Caesar" of Caesarion was discovered by Franck Goddio, the French underwater explorer whose finds have revealed the exact spot where much of ancient Alexandria's royal quarters were built.
