Name game at Notre Dame Top coaches are there, but replacing Davie still not easy

Sometime soon, perhaps as early as next week, Bob Davie is expected to be fired as Notre Dame's football coach.

There's no doubt that announcement will cause an eruption of cheers from Irish fans across the country, but simply dumping Davie won't guarantee a return to prominence for college football's most storied program.

The hiring of the next coach likely will determine how Kevin White's tenure as Notre Dame athletic director is remembered.
