The Chicago region must do something soon to significantly reduce flight delays and make more flights possible or it will fall behind other cities and become a second-class aviation center.

While political and business leaders here wrangle over just what to do, other major American cities are galloping ahead. O'Hare already has lost boasting rights to being the "world's busiest airport"-that would be Atlanta now-and the competitive picture is growing darker.
