Finding asbestos in home no longer rings major alarm

Finding asbestos in your home no longer means being invaded by men in space suits. Asbestos is on most of the federal government's lists of hazardous materials, and has been banned from use in most applications. Until recently, the hint of asbestos in a building caused it to be sealed in plastic cocoons while workers removed every last trace.

That response is changing, however, especially where residential asbestos is concerned. What once was cause for alarm now may simply stir cautious observation and judicious action.
