It means long days. Lots of paperwork. The pressure to improve
standardized test scores. Bus duty and cafeteria duty. Having to
discipline misbehaving, sometimes even dangerous, youngsters. Those
are all part of what it takes to be a school principal.
"The principal is accountable for everything, but he or she can't
do everything," La Plata High School Principal Donald Cooke told an
audience of Charles County teachers and vice principals thinking
about taking on those responsibilities....
