Childhood home of assassin John Wilkes Booth for sale

The childhood home of John Wilkes Booth - who murdered President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 - is scheduled to be sold by auction.

The 4-bedroom, brick house is in Bel Air, Md., (about 20 miles northeast of Baltimore). The couple who owned the home both died in the spring, and their heirs are selling the property.

The Booth house is listed in national and state registers of historic places, but preservationists in the area fear new owners might demolish the home.
