Jumping on the millennium bandwagon

"Millennium," the album by the Backstreet Boys that has been breaking sales records, oddly enough has nothing to do with the Year 2000 and everything to do with May 1999.

It was released that month after a marketing campaign featuring a daily countdown: "30 Days to the Millennium," "29 . . .", "28 . . ." and so on. No song by that name is on the album.

"The millennium - is it 2000, 2001, or is it sometime in May?" asks Joe Kvidera, general manager of Tower Records' Clark Street store. The album is one of a growing multitude of products, events and marketing slogans using the tag "millennium" ...
