A civilian court in Peru convicted Lori Berenson today of
collaborating with an anti-government guerrilla group and sentenced
the New York native to 20 years in prison, disappointing her family
and supporters who contend she was persecuted for left-wing political
beliefs.
Berenson, 31, who was placid throughout the trial, did not flinch
as the sentence was read in a chilly hearing room at a men's prison
