Confucius name a big seller in China

QUFU, China Kong Demao, 80, admits to being ignorant of the ways of commerce, profit and loss.

But she has something that every business seems to want these days in China, with its weakening economy and competition among thousands of companies. Kong has a name, and quite a name at that.

Kong Demao is one of two surviving members of the 77th generation of the family of Confucius, China's great sage. Since the early 1990s, she has been the nominal chairwoman of three distillers in the Qufu region, the ancestral home of Confucius, who is believed to have lived from 551 to 479 B.C.
