Musical studies stage comeback // It's curtains for old attitudes, educators say

The folks who teach musical theater at Chicago area campuses have something to sing about these days.

More students are taking up singing, dancing and acting in preparation for theater careers that will be full of musicals. A couple of schools even offer musical theater as a major.

"The attitude has changed about musical theater," said Mark Elliott, director of the program at DePaul University.
