It looked as if sports cars were about to vanish in this country
in the pragmatic 1990s. Horror of horrors, even General Motors was
thinking about dropping its venerable Corvette in the early part of
this decade.
Sports car replacements looked as if they would be sport/
utility
vehicles, smaller sporty coupes and sedans and even small customized
pickup trucks.
Things looked really dark when the once-popular Nissan 300ZX and
