Federal Contracts To Minority Firms Flat

The federal government dramatically increased its spending on government contracts over the past decade, but minority-owned firms did not share in that growth, according to a study to be released today by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

The value of federal contracts awarded to companies in the area increased 127 percent, to $28.6 billion, during that time, but the contract value issued to minority-owned firms remained flat, according to the study.
