James M. Shirley, 55, former president of Drexel National Bank, died Sunday at Michael Reese Hospital.

Mr. Shirley, of Lake Meadows, had been head of South Shore Bank's Drexel Banking Center, 3401 S. King, since South Shore Bank bought Indecorp Inc., owner of Drexel and Independence Bank.

Mr. Shirley held posts with the Mid-South Planning and Development Commission, Near South Planning Board, Grand Boulevard Federation, Abraham Lincoln Centre and Junior Achievement. Mr. Shirley, born in Jackson, Miss., attended Du Sable High School and Roosevelt University and ...
