Edgar goal: Hang on to the House
|
Gov. Edgar, Bob Dole's state chairman, has no illusions about the
outcome of the presidential election.
With President Clinton favored to win Illinois by an
overwhelming margin, Edgar is taking a more active role in the battle
for the General Assembly.
The governor has campaigned for nine Senate Republican
candidates and 22 House candidates. Edgar has also contributed more
than $250,000 from his political fund to aid GOP legislative
candidates.
Two years ago, Edgar's landslide victory helped Republicans gain
13 new seats and win control of the Illinois House. Edgar's
