At the Republican National Convention in San Diego, Richard
Morris was referred to with grudging admiration as "President Morris"
and as Bill Clinton's "Svengali."
Morris, a media consultant who has worked for Democrats and
Republicans, is credited by Clinton's allies and opponents with
saving Clinton's presidency. He is on the cover of the Sept. 2
edition of Time magazine as "The Man Who Has Clinton's Ear."
Morris had predicted during the 1992 presidential campaign that
Clinton's personal indiscretions would prevent him from winning the
