After 35 years, Peace Corps still a dream job for many
|
WASHINGTON The Peace Corps, marking its 35th anniversary this
week, is attracting more recruits from Illinois and generating a
burst of interest from students at major Illinois universities.
Amanda Galton, 21, graduated from Northwestern University on
Friday with a degree in international studies. She starts her Peace
Corps training in July.
Joining the Peace Corps "has always been my dream," said Galton,
who will be posted in Guinea. Her duties will include teaching
public health and community development in a rural village in the
West African country.
