Greek President Here Today At Close of Lobbying Effort

Greek President Kostis Stephanopoulos, a 70-year-old veteran
conservative statesman, is arriving in Chicago today at the end of a
nine-day U.S. tour designed largely to galvanize the Greek-American
lobby and persuade President Clinton to more actively support Greece
against Turkey.
He is accompanied by Greek Foreign Minister Theodore Pangalos.
Pangalos insists that Turkey withdraw its threats of war and
drop all claims against Greece in the Aegean Sea.
