Cain an Outsider Again With Arrival of Cox

A year ago Joe Cain was preparing to become heir to the legacy of
Bill George, Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary. Now he's just trying
to be Joe Cain again.
The free-agent signing of Bryan Cox means Cain will move from
middle linebacker back to the weak-side position he played two years
ago.
"I feel like I have to prove myself again on the outside," said
Cain, whose 119 tackles were second to safety Marty Carter's 158 a
year ago. "It's cool. I've had to prove myself throughout my
career, and I'm ready to do it again."
