Show Some Respect
It's a sad day for your paper and a disturbing commentary on our
times when a sports columnist finds it necessary to stretch for a
laugh by denigrating the Navy's EP-3 aircrew forced down by the
Chinese. Tony Kornheiser's description of them as a "tour group" in
the lead of his column is outrageous [Sports, April 4].
This group of young men and women -- and others like them -- place
their lives in jeopardy every day to protect our nation's freedom.
Don't they deserve at least a modicum of respect for their service
and sacrifices?
