Longtime Jet Magazine Editor Robert E. Johnson Dies at 73

Robert E. Johnson, who was instrumental in making Jet the top
black news magazine in the world, died Wednesday at his Hyde Park
home. He was 73.
Mr. Johnson, associate publisher and executive editor of Jet,
had a career at the magazine spanning 42 years. He reported on
everything from the Montgomery, Ala., bus boycotts to Mike Tyson's
imprisonment. In between, he gave many black journalists their
first shot at reporting.
