Carl Sandburg's N.C. Estate Offers Glimpse of Lifestyle

FLAT ROCK, N.C. Carl Sandburg may be known as a literary gem of
the City of BigShoulders, but during his last 20 years, a 240-acre
goat farm in the mountains of North Carolina was his home.
Connemara, Sandburg's estate in Flat Rock, N.C., is now a
National Historic Site, meticulously maintained by the U.S. Park
Service as a shrine to the great self-educated poet.
It is a fitting tribute. In 1945, Sandburg bought the
