Ghost Towns Offer Glimpse of Past

SHAKESPEARE, N.M. We walked down the dusty street in the long-deserted town looking for ghosts. Hundred-year-old doors creaked. Musty curtains shifted in the morning breeze. "This is scary," Reggie said uneasily, reaching for my hand.

We both felt the ghosts, although we didn't see them as we toured what was left of the old mining town. We didn't see the woman who is said to wander around looking for her murdered fiance. She disappeared from the Stratford Hotel, leaving her satin wedding dress behind.
