Rush Bides Time in Bid For Mayor

Rep. Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) likes his numbers. But he's in no hurry to make a decision about running for mayor.

On the basis of a recent poll, Rush thinks that he's in the strongest position to challenge Mayor Daley in the February, 1995, Democratic primary. Rush, though, won't decide until after the Nov. 8 election, in which he expects to win re-election to the U.S. House.

Rush began exploring a '95 mayoral bid when Illinois Attorney General Roland W. Burris took himself out of the running. Rush, who had supported Burris in the '94 Democratic gubernatorial primary, thought that Burris ...
