Holiday Ticket Sales Up for Arts Groups

Ticket sales for concerts, plays and special performances generally were up during this year's holiday season, some arts groups reported Monday.

Arts organizations often depend on holiday ticket sales for the bulk of their annual income. Theaters, music performances, dance groups and museums often draw their largest audiences during the last two weeks of December.

Laura Spaulding, assistant to the director of Music of the Baroque, which performs several Christmas programs throughout the Chicago area, said sales are "ahead by at least 3,000 over 1992."
