Monaghan Shoots Course Record // Takes 1-Stroke Lead With 6-Under-Par 66

Kris Monaghan dropped off the Ladies PGA Tour shortly after
Martha Nause broke her heart in the first Sun-Times Challenge.
The way Monaghan lost that year at Oak Brook Golf Club was the
stuff of a Greg Norman defeat. Nause finished
birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle, holing a 107-yard pitching-wedge shot for
eagle to win by one.
Monaghan proved Thursday that the 1991 defeat didn't keep her
down, however. She shot a course-record 6-under-par 66 to grab the
first-round lead in this year's Challenge at White Eagle.
Conditions were conducive to scoring after a 1-hour, 52-minute
