In Memoriam: Dorothy Sayers

Had it not been for a respite from "serious" writing, Dorothy Leigh Sayers - born June 13, 1893 - would be a name familiar only to Christian theologians and scholars of Dante. However, the interlude of 14 years in which she wrote 11 detective novels led to Sayers' world-wide renown as a towering figure among writers of mysteries.

In this fourth decade after her death, Sayers and her aristocratic sleuth, Lord Peter Wimsey, regularly rank among the Top 10 in any list of favorite mystery writers and their creations.
