Fate Casts Newcomer in `Wide Sargasso Sea'

In some ways, Karina Lombard's life has been a preparation for her part in "Wide Sargasso Sea" (now at the Fine Arts in Chicago). The film, directed by Mike Nuigal, is an adaptation of Jean Rhys' "prequel" to Charlotte Bronte's classic novel Jane Eyre.

Years earlier, Lombard had seen a movie version of Bronte's book, the story of the plain governess who falls in love with a mysterious Englishman, Rochester.
