Seles Too Much For Navratilova // Martina Unsure About Returning

The Virginia Slims of Chicago got a new champion Sunday amid a
backdrop of nostalgia at the Pavilion.
Monica Seles, the world's top-ranked player, took the title with
a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over defending champion and 12-time winner
Martina Navratilova.
The sellout crowd of 8,341 left wondering whether it had seen
the last of Navratilova and maybe the last Virginia Slims event at
the Pavilion, its home since the early 1980s.
Navratilova received a long standing ovation when she took the
court and didn't give fans the response they wanted after the 1-hour,
28-minute match.
