Saturn Becomes a Star // GM's Newest Baby Has Won Buyers' Trust

General Motors' two-year-old Saturn operation seems too good to be true, with consumers lining up in a depressed auto market to buy GM's newest baby.

Saturn sold only 48,400 cars in the 1991 model year, but sales jumped to 154,240 for 1992. With an added shift at its plant and more 1993 models, Saturn expects to sell 250,000 cars in the current model year.

And buyers seem to be happy with what they're getting. Saturn came out of nowhere this year to trail only Japan's posh Lexus and Infiniti car divisions in customer satisfaction, according to the widely publicized J.D. Power & Associates ...
