UN-Backed Regime for Somalia?

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine As United Nations officials considered
options for an expanded role in Somalia, a senior Bush administration
official suggested Sunday that the UN may be compelled to install an
interim government and organize elections in the African country
devastated by war and famine.
It is not clear whether President Bush wants to recommend such a
course to the UN, but the comments of the official suggested that
there is support among Bush aides for a longer-range UN role.
