Henry Kahane, 89, professor emeritus of linguistics at the
University of Illinois, died of heart failure last Friday in his
Urbana home.
He retired from the university in 1971 after 30 years on the
faculty. But he continued to serve as an administrator, pursue
research and guide graduate students until recently.
