Deep Tunnel drain project is put on hold
|
Construction workers put the brakes Wednesday on efforts to drain
the flooded freight tunnel network into the Deep Tunnel out of
concern that it would only make matters worse.
Fire Commissioner Raymond Orozco said the city ordered a halt to
work being performed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
because it jeopardized attempts to seal the leak at its source in the
Chicago River.
