ROCK: Chuck Berry continues to sputter
|
The bittersweet lament about Chuck Berry is that he hasn't made a
new statement in almost 20 years - and even that was a novelty
called "My Ding-A-Ling."
So expectations were mixed when Berry appeared at two sold-out
shows Friday night at the Cubby Bear. While it was a chance to see
one of rock's founding fathers up close and personal, Berry came to
town with the reputation as an erratic and terse live act. That is
exactly what people got.
