Writer cooked up Thanksgiving idea

We've all heard about Mary's little lamb following her to school
one day, right?
But did you know that the woman who wrote that poem also had a
lot to do with the fact that you are sitting there this Thanksgiving
Day stuffing yourself with stuffed turkey and watching the Bears play
the Lions on TV?
Neither did I until I started exploring the holiday's history
for this column. But it's true.
Much about the lore of this now very American holiday reflects
more wishfulness and warm memory than historical precision.
