Though guidebooks list barge travel under "cruises," the
experience is as different from a voyage aboard a large passenger
ship as it is from a whitewater rafting trip.
Barges have no casinos, nightclubs, dance bands or hairdressers.
Few shopping opportunities exist. Dress is informal; if you change
for dinner, it's usually into a clean skirt or slacks.
