Make the public schools compete

While the Sun-Times was running its articles on the physical deterioration of Chicago public schools, I paid a visit to New Trier High School - for an interview at their TV station, as a matter of fact. A clean, neat and orderly place, with well-dressed and seemingly serious (for teens) students, New Trier is a marvelous example of how good a high school can be if you have unlimited resources and a student body from families which tend to reinforce learning.
