`Peace' satire timely, playful, but pessimistic

The German Expressionist playwright Ernst Toller wrote his anti-war satire, "No More Peace!" in 1936, soon after he was forced into exile by the Nazis.

A World War I veteran whose fervent pacifism and political radicalism often landed him in prison, Toller committed suicide in New York at age 46, on the eve of World War II.

On Wednesday night, the Live Bait Theatrical Company revived his play - a perfect work for these times, when "peace dividends" get lost in the mail, but war can be promptly delivered.
