The Wallflowers Open Up to TV

FOR JAKOB Dylan and the Wallflowers, television is proving to be the new radio.

Thanks to radio's eager embrace of hummable hits like "One Headlight" and "6th Avenue Heartache," the Wallflowers' 1996 album, "Bringing Down the Horse," sold more than 6 million copies and sent the band on its own version of the never-ending tour. By the time the more somber, self-analytical "Breach" came out in 2000, radio had pretty much surrendered to teen pop and rap-rock and "Breach" sold but half a million, which was still a lot better than the Wallflowers' 1992 debut, which topped out at 40,000 copies.
