GALENA, Ill. Here in "the town that time forgot," no one is forgetting that prosperity has its price.

In 1989, about a million tourists pumped roughly $53 million into Galena and surrounding Jo Daviess County. Unlike many small towns, Galena's economy is growing. It maintains nearly 100 percent occupancy of commercial buildings along the Main Street business district, and the unemployment rate is low.
