Soviet miners approve one-day strike
|
MOSCOW Soviet miners said today they are going ahead with a
one-day strike this week despite an appeal for labor peace from
President Mikhail S. Gorbachev and other communist leaders.
"We no longer consider the Communist Party of the Soviet Union
our party," said Vasily Grinev, a member of the strike committee in
the country's second-largest coal field, the Kuznetsk Basin in
western Ukraine.
Miners in the largest coal region, the Don River Basin in
